Hi, I’m Myrna - founder of The Nanny Collective.

I started The Nanny Collective with a vision that went far beyond offering just another childcare service. Over time, I started noticing subtle yet meaningful gaps in how families and nannies connect: the opportunities that slipped by, the moments when care felt more like a transaction than a relationship. But I also experienced what’s possible when care is grounded in mutual respect, understanding, and real connection. I knew there had to be a better way, and with the right approach, I believed it was possible to transform how families and nannies work and grow together.

My journey began as a young au pair in New Zealand. I was nineteen, thousands of kilometers from my home in the Netherlands, and entrusted with the care of two little girls. From day one, their parents treated me as an equal in their family. We talked about the girls, not just in a practical way, but in a way that made me feel something bigger: that caring for children was about partnership, presence, and shared growth. I didn’t just keep the children safe: I was there for them with my full presence to help them thrive, and in return, I was given trust, freedom, and a sense of purpose.

But that wasn’t always the case. I’ve worked in daycare centers where schedules mattered more than individual needs. I’ve worked as a night nanny, staying awake through nights with newborns whose parents barely asked how the night went and what the baby might need the following day. I’ve been in homes where I was valued like a member of the family, and others where I was simply a placeholder until the parents would return. Across countries, cultures, and many homes, I started to see patterns. Not just in how children are cared for, but in how parents feel: stretched thin, overwhelmed, juggling work and parenthood, sometimes unsure of whether they’re doing enough. I saw that parents weren’t just seeking care; they were seeking clarity, trust, and connection.

And this is the "why" behind The Nanny Collective

We’re not here just to fill a role - we’re here to reimagine what in-home childcare can look like. I believe that when a nanny is trusted, seen, and matched with a family with intention, magic happens. Families begin to breathe again. Children flourish. Homes become calmer, warmer, more grounded. And nannies - so often overlooked - feel empowered to bring their full selves and their hearts to the work they do.

This is about more than babysitting. It’s about giving families something they might not even realize they’re missing: real peace of mind. The kind that comes from knowing you're not doing this alone. Because as the saying goes, "it takes a village to raise a child." At The Nanny Collective, we believe in creating that village - where support is thoughtful, reliable, and care is intentional.

Having lived abroad myself in different countries, I understand the nuanced challenges of navigating expat life, balancing family needs, and finding someone you can trust to welcome into your home. With a Master's in International Business and more than a decade of hands-on experience as a professional nanny, I bring a rare blend of academic insight and lived experience to this work. It’s this combination that allows me to connect the dots - between strategy and sensitivity, between what families want and what truly helps them thrive.

I built The Nanny Collective to provide more than just childcare solutions. It’s a movement toward more thoughtful, personalized, and high-quality placements where families and nannies genuinely thrive together.
