The following are the steps that you will be guided through to find your favourite family(s):

    • Submit your application, including your qualifications, experience, references, and language skills

    • We review your application to ensure you meet our basic requirements


    • Interview where we assess your personality, values, and approach to childcare

    • Discuss your experience with (international) families and understanding of how the Nanny Collective fits into your life

    • We conduct thorough background checks, including police checks and social media screening

    • We verify your references 

    • We verify you’re registered as autonomo, so that we can pay you legally! For those who aren’t registered yet, we offer some benefits (which will be communicated during the personal interview)

    • Attend our training session(s) tailored to the families you’ll work for (night nanny, flexible nanny, travel nanny), which are all provided at no cost to you, demonstrating our commitment to your professional development and success within the Collective 

    • Participate in workshop on first aid/CPR refresher course (if necessary)


    • We carefully match you with families based on personality, energy fit, and specific requirements

    • You'll receive detailed family profiles for any potential placements

    • Participate in a physical interview with potential families, with preparation support from our side by means of a pre-placement briefing on family dynamics and expectations 


  • Engage in a structured trial period with a family, allowing both you and the family to assess the fit, with clear objectives and evaluation criteria (to allow for clarity and a common understanding between you and the family!)

    • Once a match is confirmed, we handle all legal and administrative aspects of your placement

    • You'll be introduced to our support systems, including WhatsApp groups for job opportunities and community engagement

nanny requirements

At The Nanny Collective, we're looking for exceptional nannies who embody our core values and share our passion for redefining childcare. Our ideal candidates have a big heart for children and families, and naturally create authentic connections with those they care for. Here's what we look for in our nannies:

Applicable to all nannies

  • At least 21 years old

  • Minimum 1-2 years of full-time professional childcare experience

  • For night nannies: specific experience with newborns and babies a minimum of 1-2 years of full-time

  • Two professional references

  • Fluent in English (native or near-native proficiency)

  • Be (able to) autonomo / freelancer in another country*

  • Valid police check*

  • Current CPR & First Aid certification (including infant care for night nanny applicants)*

  • Commitment to The Nanny Collective for at least 3 months

*We provide hands-on support to meet these qualifications

Standout Qualifications

  • Educational background in child development, nursing, or medicine

  •  We provide specialized training, regular workshops, community events, and opportunities to specialize in different types of care. We also offer monthly check-ins and a supportive community of fellow nannies.


  •  Yes, being registered as an autónomo is required to work with us as we deeply value the the chances to work legally. We offer support and benefits to help with this process, which we'll discuss during the personal interview.


  • As an autónomo/freelancer, you will invoice the Nanny Collective for your services. We ensure prompt (bi-)monthly payment and offer competitive rates that exceed the general nanny tariffs in Barcelona.


  • Yes, after one year of successful work with The Nanny Collective, there may be opportunities for full-time contracts, depending on family needs and your performance.
